I've owned an Internet-based small business for the past six years and the critical hub of all my activity is QuickBooks. I cannot imagine how anyone could function without it. From tracking sales and Cost of Goods Sold to easy online banking, Quickbooks Pro helps you do it all and do it easily.
The 2010 version is much improved over earlier entries. You'll want at least the Pro version, but that will probably satisfy the great majority of small firms. The Premier would really be overkill for my operation.
The new feature on Pro that allows you to import Excel sheets is a really useful addition. The Report Center has also been redesigned, which is helpful as well.
